I have a toddler that I would like to bring to the concert. Does the toddler need a paid seat?
Yes, if the child will be occupying a separate space, such as a seat or in a stroller. If the child will be held in your lap at all times, then a paid seat is not necessary.
Do chaperones, teachers, and parents need paid seats?
Yes. Our policy does provide one free seat for every 20 paid seats. The allotment of the free seat is up to you.
I am part of a home-school group. Can we get separate confirmation letters, since we don’t travel together?
One letter per group will be sent to your coordinator. The coordinator is free to make copies for individuals. Also, should you wish to sit together at the concert, you will need to wait for your entire group to arrive before being seated.
I have a group that covers many ages. Which concert should I attend? The Symphony Street concerts are designed to introduce children to the orchestra, and attendees are rarely over second-grade level. The Discover concerts are for grades 3-5, and neXt Generation concerts are for grades 6-8. While the same music is played at both Discover and neXt Generation concerts, some aspects of the program are adjusted to accommodate the grade level of the audience. If you consider your group to be advanced, then they are most welcome to attend the concert for the next older age group.
I teach high school students. Do you have a concert series that is directed toward this age group?
The ASO’s Symphony 360° and Classical Stage 1 series are a perfect introduction to orchestral music for high school and college age students. In Symphony 360° Conductor Laura Jackon and guest host Bill Nigut reinvent the way music is heard! Focusing on one major work, these musical sleuths “channel” a composer’s thinking, debunk perceptions and myths, reveal back stories that make for fascinating listening – and learning ‘ and stress the fun of the fundamentals. Classical Stage 1 is a six concert series that includes a Sunday matinee performance. These full concert offerings will include Beethoven’s 9th, Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, and Rimksy-Korsakov’s Scheherazade, just to name a few. Special guests abound! Special student and group rates are available for as little as $10.00 per student.
